2021 Annual Conference
The 2021 Annual Conference will take place at the National University of Ireland, Galway, in November/December 2021. A call for papers will be published here in due course.
Obituary: Philip Ollerenshaw, 1953-2020
Liam Kennedy has written an obituary for Philip Ollerenshaw, an economic historian of Ireland and member of the editorial board of Irish Economic and Social History, who died recently. Read it here.
SSNCI Essay Prize
The 2019 Society for the Study of Nineteenth-Century Ireland essay prize for early career researchers has been announced as Ciarán McCabe for his article ”The Going Out of the Voluntary and the Coming in of the Compulsory”: The Impact of the 1838 Irish Poor Law on Voluntary Charitable Societies in Dublin City’, which was published in the 2018 edition of Irish Economic and Social History.
